A Little Holiday Visual.

So Santa was good to me and got me a Sony CyberShot DSC-W50 digital camera, and I’ve been snapping away. Here’s a picture of my living room composited from five shots, each at different exposures using a technique called High Dynamic Range imaging (HDR). Click on the thumbnail in this post for a larger view, and if you’re intrigued, take a look at the HDR Pool on Flickr. Happy holidays!

Forces of Nature.

I’m back home for the holidays, and I decided to bring my Mac mini along with me. Apple + free time is a dangerous combination, often resulting in a lot of creative messing around. In this case, I decided to make a series of colourful 4x6 images based on a random stream-of-consciousness I had going. Each one is based around a different typeface, with the same kinds of techniques used throughout. I was experimenting on how a certain typeface can contribute to the overall feel of a piece; I think Helvetica (grow) and Slimbach (create) serve their purposes particularly well.I need to go to staples at some point; I just might get these printed on glossy photo paper.
